Blue School

241 Water Street, New York City

The former home of the Seaman’s Church Institute, this 32,000 square foot structure consists of three buildings combined into one, with additions. One of the incorporated buildings dates to the 1750s. The complete rehabilitation of the interior allowed the building to be re-purposed as a school. Founded by the members of the Blue Man Group, it has an emphasis on the arts. Initially serving primary school grades, the school is developing into a Kindergarten through 12th grade institution.
