In response to the need to control and if possible, eliminate the Covid 19 virus from indoor environments, P. A. Collins PE can help owners, operators and tenants implement the following measures:
- Increased ventilation, preferably using Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) with efficiencies in the 90% range in the heating cycle that can be retrofitted into existing spaces or onto existing HVAC equipment as well as new installations. Efficiencies in the cooling cycle are in the 60-70% range
- Sanitizing the air streams and coils within HVAC equipment using 232 nanometer UVC light
- Bi-polar ionization (not ozone) of the HVAC air flows. This technique charges all airborne particles (this includes particulate such as diesel exhaust, smoke, viruses, bacteria, dander, etc.) which then aggregate and become larger clumps of particles and can be caught by filtration or become heavy enough to fall out of the airstream
- Enhanced filtration
- High UVC light disinfection in rooms
- Adding humidification to avoid allowing the virus to become permanently airborne outside of aerosolized water droplets
