Educational Projects
Gateway School, Upper West Side, NYC – working directly for the school our office analyzed the radiant floor heating system and heat pump HVAC system due to persistent complaints of over or under heating. Extensive changes were made to the control system and the underlying sequences of operation to allow the systems to operate as designed.
Stephen Gaynor School – working directly for the school our office performed a due diligence study of all building systems at the 10 year mark to analyze on-going issues with freezing coils and uncomfortable classroom temperatures. Capital expenses for building systems were projected out 10 years for capital expenditure and maintenance budgeting.
Brooklyn Youth Chorus Academy – working directly for the school our office performed a due diligence study of all building systems at the 10 year mark to analyze on-going issues with poor heating and AC system zoning and uncomfortable classroom temperatures. Capital expenses for building systems were projected out 10 years for capital expenditure and maintenance budgeting.
Teacher’s College – the conversion of the central steam generating plant from diesel fuel to a dual fuel gas – oil combination and greatly increasing efficiency over the old burners. The work on this 2400 horse power installation paid for itself within one heating season.
Mercy College – the renovation of a 3500 square foot speech and language department. Systems installed included sound booths and sophisticated CCTV/audio system for therapy monitoring and treatment rooms for speech and communications disorder therapy.
Rudolf Steiner School – a renovation to the Upper and Lower School buildings, located at 15 East 78th and 15 East 79th Streets in Manhattan.
Teacher’s College Columbia University – with John Young, Architect the projected consisted of the renovation of the central building and library, consisting of 60,000 sf containing class rooms, dining rooms, research areas, book storage and reading areas. The installations included new self-contained air conditioning units, modification of the steam heating system to suit the new lay out.
Tobe – Coburn Woods Academy – working directly for the school renovation of the mechanical systems for a 15,000 square foot midtown facility.
Solomon Schechter Lower School – the complete renovation of a 6500 square foot pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade school at 15 West 86th Street.
For The Glick Foundation (a charitable organization funded by various financial houses) with Pier Fine Architects. A renovation of the activities building for the Renaissance Center in upstate New York, consisting of cafeteria, gymnasium and game rooms, laundry and kitchen. The fees for this project were vastly reduced for charitable reasons.
